The Sunshine Underground
Raise The Alarm
The Sunshine Underground, a great new British band named after a Chemical Brothers track, recently put out their debut CD. The album is fresh and upbeat and features driving backbeats and unique vocals. The stand out track for me is "Put You In Your Place." This song as well as several others on this disc has shades of Bloc Party and The Rapture. The Sunshine Underground is a Leeds Band but is vastly different from many of the others falling under the same category. The album is great for driving, and particularly reminds me of hot weather and singing inappropriately loud. However, the vocal style is not for everyone. If you can stand the outlandishly British vocals of Bloc Party, The Sunshine Underground proves to be a little more tame vocally, and perhaps a little more listenable for some.
